Collins will discuss his meeting with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in mid-December.
His presentation begins at 7 p.m. at Canadian Valley Career Technology Center, located at 6505 E. Highway 66, between Yukon and El Reno.
"I’m looking forward to being back in Canadian County," Collins said. "We have an active, successful organization here."
Collins served as a state representative in House District 45 in Norman for eight years, from 1996 to 2000 and from 2006 to 2010. He was assistant majority whip during his first tenure and assistant minority floor leader during the second period.
He led the Cleveland County Democratic Party as chair from 2001 to 2005.
Collins and his wife Pat have family roots in Norman that go back more than 100 years. They are well known for their party-building and fund-raising successes in Cleveland County. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in Dec. 2010 and have six Democratic sons and six grandchildren.
The Canadian County Democrats meet from 7-8:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, except March and December, at Canadian Valley Technology Center, 6505 E. Highway 66 between Yukon and El Reno.
