Public invited to free seminar on Social Security benefits, financing at Canadian County Democrats’ August 12 meeting

YUKON, Okla. – The public is invited to a free seminar focusing on Social Security benefits and financing presented by Dennis Purifoy from Yukon at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 12.

The seminar will be presented at the Canadian County Democrats’ monthly meeting in the Yukon Police Department conference room, located at 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard. 

The seminar is open to the public.  Reservations are not needed.

 Purifoy recently retired from the Social Security Administration after 40 years of experience. He is a 20-year resident of Yukon.

His presentation will cover who is eligible for Social Security benefits, how benefits are figured, how and when to file for benefits, the future of Social Security and some of the possible solutions to deal with future Social Security funding issues.

Some of the questions to be addressed will be:
• Will Social Security be there when I need it? 
• What about the current finances of Social Security? 
• When should I take my social Security retirement? 
• What extra choices do widows and widowers have?
• What are the limits on how much a person can earn and still get Social Security retirement?

The Canadian County Democrats meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, except September and December, at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard in Yukon. The September  9 meeting will be at City of Mustang Town Center, meeting room D, 1201 N. Mustang Road. The December meeting will be a holiday party at a location to be announced.
