CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. – Grassroots leaders elected at the Canadian County Democrats’ recent precinct meetings will serve as voting delegates to the county convention on Thurs, March 30. The convention is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. in Seminar C at Canadian County Technology Center, 6505 E. Hwy. 66 in El Reno.

The convention delegates will elect a county secretary, vice chair and chair and 12 delegates to represent Canadian County at upcoming Congressional District and State Conventions.

Two delegates from Mustang will attend the District 4 convention, while 10 delegates will go to District 3 meeting. The number of delegates is based on the percentage of the county in each district.

The group will also hold a town hall meeting following the precinct elections.

Participants are encouraged to park on the south side of building and enter through the west entrance.

There is no charge to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

“We had an outstanding turnout and a lot of enthusiasm at our precinct meetings this year,” Vice Chair Tim O’Connor said. “Our county convention is the next step in signing up grassroots leaders who will get active in the political process and community activities like our scholarship program and school supply giveaway.”
The Canadian County Democrats will normally meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month (except December) at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S Ranchwood. The next meeting will be April 10.
