EL RENO, Okla. – Volunteers from the Canadian County Democrats will distribute free school supplies from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 9, at the Lord’s Harvest food bank, 1020 Sunset Drive, El Reno. Supplies will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Sponsors from the community are needed to double the amount of school supplies distributed this year. Individuals who want to help and business owners who have ink pens, pencils or other supplies imprinted with their company name are encouraged to donate items for distribution.
The supplies will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. In past years, all the school supplies were gone in less than one hour.
“This is the eighth year the Canadian County Democrats have provided school supplies for kids in our community,” County Chair Jody Harlan said. “Donations are needed because we want to help twice as many students as previous years.”
The Canadian County Democrats will also register voters from all political parties and accept signatures for Take Shelter Oklahoma petition for storm shelters in public schools.
