CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. –The Canadian County Democrats will distribute free school supplies beginning at 10 a.m. on Sat., August 6, at the Lord’s Harvest food bank, 1020 Sunset Drive, El Reno. Supplies will be available on a first come, first served basis.
This is the tenth year the Democrats have provided school supplies for elementary students in Canadian County.
Donations are welcome from individuals and businesses, who may have pens, pencils or other supplies imprinted with their company names.
“Every year the list of school supplies gets longer, which means many families struggle to buy 10 glue sticks, three boxes of crayons, 48 pencils and a dozen more items for each of their children,” Canadian County Democrats Secretary Shirley Burton said. “Donations help us stretch the supplies that we buy so twice as many students can get basic items needed to start school.”
The Canadian County Democrats will also register voters from all political parties.
The Canadian County Democrats meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month (except Dec.) at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard.
