ATTORNEY GENERAL CANDIDATE TO SPEAK MAY 11

EL RENO, Okla. – Democratic candidate for Attorney General Jim Priest will outline his plans for seeking state office for the Canadian County Democrats at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11.

Seating is available on a first come, first served for the free event at Canadian Valley Technology Center, located at 6506 E. Highway 66 between Yukon and El Reno.

Priest, age 54, is an attorney and ordained Church of the Nazarene minister.

"The decision to run has been the result of much thought and prayer," Priest said.. My motivation is summed up in a quote from Will Rogers: „It‟s a great country, but you can‟t live in it for free.‟ Serving as attorney general is a way for me to give back to the people of this great state who have done so much for me."

Priest has practiced law in Oklahoma for 30 years and is employed with the law firm Whitten, Burrage, Priest, Fulmer, Anderson and Eisel. He has represented individuals, corporations, cities and state agencies in state and federal courts and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

He wrote the weekly column "Family Talk," which was published in

The Oklahoman for 10 years and a regular column on business ethics in the Journal Record.

Priest is Director of Men‟s Ministries at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. As Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma board president, he helped raise $5.4 million for a new facility. He has served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity, Bethany Public Schools Foundation and Variety Health Center, which provides health care to low income mothers and children. Priest helped found two non-profit organizations, the Marriage Network Oklahoma and Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium.

Jim graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University Law School in Syracuse, New York. He was a member of the national championship mock trial team and the prestigious Order of the Coif, a national honor society for law students who graduate in the top ten percent of their classes.

Priest and his wife of 31 years, Diane, have a son, Spencer, and a daughter, Amanda, who lives in Tulsa with her husband Lee.
