12 Democratic candidates expected to speak at the Canadian County Democrats’ Fiesta August 13 in Yukon

Caption: Mike Workman, U.S. Senate candidate, and Sarah Baker, Oklahoma Democratic Party executive director, will participate on the program Saturday, August 13, for the Canadian County Democrats Candidate Forum. Baker will be master of ceremonies for Workman and 11 other Democratic candidates who will speak at the event.

Canadian County, Okla. -- Twelve Democratic candidates will speak this Saturday, August 13, at the Canadian County Democrats’ 10th banquet and candidate forum now known as the 2016 Candidate Fiesta.

The event starts at 6 p.m.at Events at 10 West Main in Yukon. Ticket cost is $55 per person.

Democratic organizers have upgraded their popular event, formerly known as the Bean Supper, from casual to festive attire for the luxurious, new venue recently opened in Yukon.

More than 100 guests are expected to hear the candidates:

The Democrats’ 2016 Robert “Bob” Burton scholarship winners Parker Strubhar from Piedmont and Allyson Kelton from Mustang are invited to attend.

The Bean Supper Band, which retains its name from the original candidate forum, will entertain. Members are Tim O’Connor and Tim Wagner from Yukon, Worth Lambert from Kingfisher and Ron Marlett from Bethany.

The menu will include a gourmet taco dinner catered by Cocina De Mino Mexican Restauranté. Managing partner Tim Wagner from Yukon will personally handle catering for the hometown event.

Candidate Fiesta sponsors are Cocina De Mino Mexican Restauranté; the Robert “Bob” Burton family; Mark and Laurie Hammons; The Democratic Party officers from Congressional District 3; Mike Workman, candidate for U.S. Senate; and SkyFire Media.
 
Other key supporters include Cassie and Dennis Purifoy, candidate for state house District 60; Tom Guild, candidate for US Congressional District 5; Sarah Fraker; Bruce and Stephanie Fraker; Betty and LeeRoy Kiesling; and Dean Rinehart.

The Canadian County Democrats meet from 7-8:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month (except December) at the Yukon Police Department, 100 S. Ranchwood Blvd. The next meeting will be July 14.
