Sponsors are needed to help the Canadian County Democrats double the amount of school supplies distributed from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 13, in cooperation with the Lord’s Harvest food bank, 1020 Sunset Drive, El Reno.
The supplies will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. In past years, all the school supplies were gone in less than one hour.
"This is the fifth year the Canadian County Democrats have done the school supplies giveaway," county Vice Chair Rodney Boegel said. "The need is growing in the community, so we voted to double the amount of schools supplies we buy so we can help more students."
Business owners who have ink pens, pencils or other supplies imprinted with their company name are encouraged to donate items for distribution.
The Canadian County Democrats will also register Democratic and Republican voters as part of the school supply giveaway.
