Oklahoma State Democratic Party Chairman Todd Goodman Briefs Canadian County Democrats

posted Feb 11, 2010, 4:56 PM by Rodney Boegel
We had a busy night at our monthly meeting of the Canadian County Democratic Party. John Morris of Calumet introduced himself as a Democratic candidate for district 3 County Commissioner. He gave some introductory remarks and fielded questions from the audience. Lets support John in his bid to finally put a Democrat in Canadian County government.
Ok Democratic Party State Chairman, Todd Goodman, came to inform the county party of what the political landscape looks like for the coming election season. Todd talked about every race from Canadian County Commissioner to the Governors Office. And he had some choice words for that "beacon of integrity" Tom Coburn. We were honored to have him address our group and welcome him anytime.
Carol Ruth, who is our Scholarship Committee Chair, told us that the scholarship packets were ready to go out to all schools in Canadian County if approved by the membership. We voted unanimously to extend the age of applicants to 35 years of age to include all people of an age to be members of the Young Democrats of Oklahoma. The scholarships are now called the Canadian County Young Democrats Scholarships. Thanks to Carol and her committee for all of their hard work to bring young Democrats to our county party.
And speaking of Carol, you have got to keep an eye on the Yukon Review. She will occassionally have a column published on the opinions page page called At the Podium. Her first column was on January 30th and it was SPECTACULAR ! We congratulate her for getting published and the insightful arguements she makes on behalf of Democrats and the rights of all Oklahomans.
Our sister county program is paying off according to Todd Goodman. The Caddo County Democrats [which we helped organize] had 70 members at a current meeting. A rising tide raises all boats and so it is with our party. The Kingfisher County Democrats, another sister county of ours, is having a Chicken and Noodle and Chili Dinner at 6:00 next Tuesday, the 16th at the Masonic Hall[ across from McDonalds] in Kingfisher. If possible, try to get there to support our sister county as they forge a newly energized Kingfisher Democratic Party.[its only $5.00]
Our next meeting will be on March 9th and our featured speaker will be Tom Guild,Secretary of the Oklahoma County Democrats. Upcoming speakers include Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields and Attorney General Candidate, Jim Priest. This is going to be a BIG year for our party so come to our meetings and get involved with getting Democrats elected to offices from our county to the Governors mansion.
   All the Best,
   Rodney Lee Boegel
   Canadian County Democratic Party Secretary
