Labor Leader to speak at Canadian County Democrats’ Jan 13 meeting

YUKON, Okla. – Labor leader Tim O’Connor from Yukon will speak from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13, at the Canadian County Democrats’ first monthly meeting of 2014.

The meeting will be held at the Yukon Police Department located at 100 S. Ranchwood Boulevard.

Democrats and their guests are encouraged to attend. The presentation is free with seating available on a first come, first served basis.

O’Connor is the president of the AFL-CIO’s Central Oklahoma Labor Federation. He is also a member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union and the American Federation of Musicians Local 375-703.

He is employed as a public relations representative with the American Income Life Insurance Company.

A former chair of the Canadian County Democrats, O’Connor has been active in party elections and other activities.  He represented the Oklahoma Democrats at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is a founding member of the organization’s Bean Supper Band. The country-rock group performs at Democratic Party events in central Oklahoma.
